Bio

My name is Dacota “G” Fresilli and I want to help you take your sound to the next level. You’ve written some amazing songs, that you’ve perfected day in and day out, but you’re still looking for someone who can take them to that radio ready quality. Let me partner with you and together we can take your tracks to their full potential. As a fellow creative I promise to put as much time and effort into the recording/mixing of your song, as you did into the writing and creation. Take a listen to previous clients before and after samples conveniently located below.

Recording Tips How to Send Sessions

Setting up your session

Follow these easy steps to set up your session, before recording. Once your done creating each track save your session as a template, so that you don’t have to spend time making each track, every time you record. Remember signal flow (how efficient you work) is everything,

Step 1: Create a new session.

Step 2: Make sure your settings are optimized for recording. For example in Pro Tools

Step 3: Make a new mono track for each of the tracks listed below

(Import your instrumental first)

Verse

1.     Lead Vocal

2.     Double (highlights/rhyme words) *DEPENDS ON TASTE

3.     Double 2 (highlights/rhyme words)(this track is for any of the doubles you missed on the first track) *DEPENDS ON TASTE

4.     Adlib (ex. Yeah, na, what,)(livens the track, fills space)

5.     Adlib 2(ex. Yeah, na, what,)(livens the track, fills space)

Chorus

6.     Chorus Lead

7.     Chorus Double (record the entire chorus over)

8.     Chorus Double 2 (record the entire chorus over)

9.     Chorus Double 3 (record the entire chorus over)

10. Chorus Low (record in a lower tone)

11. Chorus Adlibs ((ex. Yeah, nah, what,)(livens the track, fills space)

12. Chorus Adlibs 2((ex. Yeah, nah, what,)(livens the track, fills space)

Bridge

13. Bridge

14. Bridge Double (record entire bridge over)

15. Bridge Double 2 (record entire bridge over)

16. Bridge Double 3 (record entire bridge over)

Intro/Outro

17. Intro *DEPENDS ON TASTE

18. Outro *DEPENDS ON TASTE

After your session is completely set up be sure to save and name your session. Remember to save your session periodically through out the recording process. There’s nothing like forgetting to hit save, and having your computer crash on you.

Setting up your interface

Step1: Make sure that your interface is set up correctly.

Step 2: Be sure to turn on your 48v phantom power in order to record(WHEN YOU FINISH RECORDING, MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF PHANTOM POWER).

Step 3** IMPORTANT: Make sure that your input gain (microphone gain) is set to an appropriate level. Record a test vocal and adjust your input as needed to get the right level. Most interfaces have a light that will turn orange when your signal is too hot, or for this case when your vocals are too loud. Distortion or clipping can never be reversed. If you record a whole song and all of your vocals are distorted, the mix engineer is going to tell you to rerecord the entire song. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR VOCALS ARE RECORDED CORRECTLY. If you have further questions on this do not hesitate to call/text me, so I can help you get it right the first time.

Recording

Step 1: Set up your microphone so that the capsule, inside of the microphone is at the same level as your mouth.

Step 2: Make sure that the instrumental your recording to is set at around -11 to -12 dB, and try not to turn up your headphones to loud to the point that the microphone picks it up. Headphone bleed can make or break how clean your vocals are. If you want to have big bold, full, vocals, be sure to monitor your headphone level.

Step 3: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a pop filter.

Step 4: You should position yourself about 4-6 inches away from the pop filter. Use above picture as a reference. Also you can use the 3 finger technique. Place your index, middle and ring fingers, between your mouth and the pop filter (this is generally, where you want to be, when you record).

**When recording an aggressive part of the song, adjust the gain on your interface. 9 times out of 10 your vocals will be clipping if you leave the gain on your interface set at the same level as it was for your previous recordings.
